---------------

The American Carbon Registry (ACR), a non-profit enterprise of Winrock International, welcomes feedback from its members, project proponents and other interested parties on the ACR Methodology for REDD – Avoiding Planned Deforestation.

This methodology is applicable only to the REDD sub-category Avoiding Planned Deforestation (APD). Separate forthcoming methodologies will address unplanned deforestation and forest degradation.

Three documents are posted for review and comment:

1.       The draft ACR REDD-APD methodology [8]

2.       Annex 1 [9], an alphabetized reference for all data and parameters used in the methodology

3.       A separate ACR Tool for Estimation of Stocks in Carbon Pools and Emissions from Emission Sources [10]. This tool provides procedures for the estimation of carbon stocks and GHG emissions for each of those pools and emission sources included in the GHG assessment boundary of REDD-APD activities. The tool is referenced in the REDD-APD methodology as “CPES.”

All ACR methodologies, whether developed by Winrock International or brought to ACR by external parties, are subject to a rigorous public consultation and external scientific peer review process prior to approval for use on ACR.

Please send all comments to publiccomment@americancarbonregistry.org [11] by close of business September 7, 2010 referencing “ACR Methodology for REDD – Avoiding Planned Deforestation.”
