---------------
The main focus of the workshop will be on REDD+ safeguards and on policies to address the underlying drivers of deforestation in the most efficient way in REDD+ implementation nationally and globally. REDD+ holds great potential to contribute to sustainable development, and to improve the lives of the local communities and indigenous peoples living in or around forests. At the same time, if insufficient attention is paid to address risks early on, REDD+ activities could undermine the livelihoods and rights of forest peoples. The Cancun Agreement established a set of ‘safeguards’ to be supported and promoted when undertaking REDD+ activities.
The workshop is open to all participants involved in the REDD+ agenda globally, but participation requires an invitation from the organisers and is subject to space and budget limitations. If you have not received an invitation with a registration link, please send an e-mail to the organisers - reddexchange@gyro.no [8]. Space is limited so please register early.
