daptation is of high priority in many developing countries where the impacts of climate change are already being felt. REDD+ is a mitigation opportunity for many developing countries, however for the benefits to be maximised it should be designed in a way that meets national development objectives, including adaptation objectives. This paper examines how synergies between REDD+ and adaptive capacity at the local level can be maximised and analyses whether this is likely to occur, highlighting tradeoffs that need to be explicitly addressed.
