The timber industry complex of Vologda Region is fast growing

According to the Council for Investment Development of the Forestry Department of Vologda Region, the regional enterprises have increased the timber harvesting volumes by 20% in January, 2011. The soft wood and hard wood harvesting increased by 14.4% and 33 %, respectively, against the corresponding period of 2010.

The sawmilling production grew by 24.7 %, those of plywood by 5%, wood particle board output increased by 37.8% and those of fiberboard by 53.7%. The pre-fabricated wooden housing construction augmented by a factor of 3.7, the pulp cooking doubled as compared to the corresponding period of 2010, the paper and board production increased by 45% and 62%, respectively.
