The environmental studies for Fibria's expansion project in the region of Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul state) in Brazil were presented to around 600 people at a public hearing held on June 10th Fibria writes in the latest newsletter. This undertaking will raise the plant's annual production capacity from 1.3 million to 3.05 million tons of pulp. The expansion involves an investment of R$3.6 billion in the industrial area, and will employ around 3,000 people during the construction phase.

More than half the pulp produced in Brazil (59.5%) is exported. Firewood, charcoal and other items from this segment are in second place on the list of Brazilian forest products, with a 35.4% market share.
