The demand for some types of paper, like newsprint and other printing and writing paper will decrease in the next decade but the many other uses for wood fibre will mean dramatic increases in global demand overall, according to a new report from PwC.

Helsinki, Finland, May 23, 2011 – UPM is one of the very first companies to achieve multinational corporate registration under the revised EMAS III regulation, the EU’s Environmental Management and Auditing Scheme. UPM’s corporate registration includes 15 pulp and paper mills in five EU countries and all data is third party verified.

St. Petersburg, Russia, May 3, 2011 - Over the first quarter of 2011 the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk Branches of Ilim Group has manufactured 367,000 tons of pulp and paper products. This is 2.5% more than in January — March of the previous year.

This includes 309,000 tons of market pulp, which is a 2% percent increase from the similar period performance in 2010.

Market containerboard production has reached 58,000 tons, having gained 7%.

Rentech Inc. has accepted a wood supply offer from Ontario and has big plans for White River, Ontario.
