AS Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy moves beyond its start-up phase, the government is leading efforts to advance work on the six priority investments for this year. The six investments will accelerate Guyana’s transition to a low carbon economy by deploying the US$70M earned by Guyana for the provision of Forestry Climate Services under the Guyana/Norway Agreement.

In May 2010, Norway agreed to contribute up to $1 billion towards reducing deforestation and forest degradation and loss of peatland in Indonesia, which now account for more than 80 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Department of Forestry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, supported in their efforts by the UN-REDD programme, are making rapid progress towards ensuring that Viet Nam is “REDD-ready”.
Tanzania is moving swiftly on REDD. The government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Vice President’s Office and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, has established a National REDD Task Force that will administer the process of developing a National Strategy for REDD. The initiative will strenghten Tanzania's readiness for REDD as a component of Tanzania's evolving REDD strategy, and is integrated with other activities in the country.
Working closely with Indigenous Peoples and Civil Society Organizations as well as academia, the Secretariat of the Environment and INFONA (National Forestry Institute) are leading the activities on REDD in Paraguay
