Following the results of 2011, Ilim Group was acknowledged as the leader of forest management certification. The respective Proof of Leadership was awarded to Ilim Group by the Russian Branch of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Therefore Ilim Group has proved once again its leadership in forest management certification in Russia. As a reminder, all forest areas leased by Ilim Group, which is over 5.16 million hectares, have been certified by FSC. The Company’s share accounts for 18.4% of all certified forests in Russia.
Over the 12 months of 2011, OJSC Ilim Group’s mills in Siberia (the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk mills) manufactured 1,490,000 tons of pulp and paper products. This is 1.5% above the 2010 performance.
This includes 1,258,000 tons of market pulp, with a 1% increase over the previous year.
Market containerboard output has increased by 3% compared to previous period to reach 231,000 tons.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending EUR 100 million to finance the modernisation and expansion of an integrated pulp and paper mill in Syktyvkar in the Russian Federation. This is the first EIB loan provided by the Bank under the Eastern Partners Facility (EPF).

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order by SFT Group, a rapidly growing packaging producer in Russia, to rebuild and modernize a mothballed kraft paper machine after dismantling it at UPM’s Kymi mill in Finland and relocating it to SFT’s Kamenskaya mill in the Tver region, Russia.
The modernized board machine for the production of fluting and testliner will have a capacity of 215,000 t/a (design speed 1,050 m/min, trim width 4,600 mm). Start-up is scheduled for October 2012.
RusForest's Board has signed a tender letter to Clean Tech East regarding an acquisition of all shares in Clean Tech East's wholly owned subsidiaries EBH and BEN - which together form Clean Tech East's Biomass Fuels business segment, whose business is to manufacture and sell wood pellets. The proposed acquisition is, amongst other things, conditional upon approval by an Extraordinary General Meeting in Clean Tech East to be held on 9 December 2011.
The Forestry Branch of OJSC Ilim Group in Koryazhma (Arkhangelsk Oblast) has gone through audit verifying the compliance with the FSC Forest Management requirements. No significant incompliances with the international standards have been identified during the audit which was carried out by GFA (Germany). After the audit the Forestry Branch was included in the list of Ilim Group Branches covered by the multi-site Forest Management FSC Certificate.
Russian hardwood plywood imports reached 416,000m³ in the first half, up 23% on the 340,000m³ shipped a year ago. The birch plywood imports made up much of the increase in EU hardwood plywood imports.
Russia, Aug 17, 2011 - Last month Mondi Syktyvkar launched the large-scale Forest of the Future project to further strengthen its forestry operations. The program is scheduled to close in 2013.
