53% US respondents, South America (other than Brazil) was 9%, 7% China, all other were less

  • 27% of respondents say they receive direct government subsidies
     
  • Only 2% of the total said government subsidies keep them in business
     
  • 21% believe government subsidies are necessary for research and development
     
  • 54% believe government research in alternative uses for cellulose creates competitors for the pulp and paper industry
     
  • 25% of respondents say their government provides tariff protection for domestic pulp and paper products
     
  • 45% of respondents said their business was hurt this year by the North American black liquor tax credit
     
  • 93% believe governments should offer tax breaks and research funding to the pulp and paper industry
