Germany, Mar 11, 2011 - Mr. Guido Fuchs has resigned from the position of Director of FSC Switzerland after 8 years in the organization. He will continue to provide project support until the new Director takes office on 1 June 2011.

A forest engineer, Mr. Fuchs has been involved in the FSC system since June 1995 when he joined SGS Forestry and contributed to setting up the SGS QUALIFOR program. In 2003, he developed a structure and business plans for FSC Switzerland and was elected Director of FSC Switzerland at the Founding Assembly in the same year.

At FSC Switzerland, Mr. Fuchs developed the producing, manufacturing, trading and retail market for FSC products in Switzerland. Under his leadership, the number of FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certificates in Switzerland grew significantly as well as the number of FSC certified products in stores across the country. According to a survey conducted by WWF, prompted recognition of the FSC label by private consumers in Switzerland was a remarkable 67 per cent in 2009. According to the same survey, 77 per cent of respondents said that they have seen the logo in shops and stores.

“FSC Switzerland has never been a one man show. I always had a great team around me and a Board of Directors that fully supported my work, even in financially very uncomfortable circumstances” said Mr. Fuchs. As Director of FSC Switzerland, he established a point of contact for FSC related issues in Switzerland. He has been particularly successful in bringing all stakeholders together so that they would use the FSC platform to discuss and find solutions in the case of conflicts.

FSC would like to thank Mr. Fuchs for his commitment, enthusiasm and outstanding contributions to the FSC system.
